Extending Main Filter Life with Pre-Filter Care
Most modern air purifiers feature a fine mesh nylon pre-filter designed to capture large lint, hair, and dust before it reaches the expensive True HEPA layer. Cleaning this outer screen every 2 to 4 weeks restores airflow and can extend HEPA lifespan by several months.
Safe Cleaning Rules
- Use a Soft Brush Vacuum Attachment: Gently vacuum the exterior screen while attached to the machine or after removing.
- Washing Permanent Screens: If the pre-filter is a separate detachable nylon mesh, rinse under cool water and let dry for 24 hours before reassembly.
- NEVER Wash the HEPA Core: Water shatters glass microfibers and collapses pleat geometry, ruining particle capture permanently.
